We have launched a unique programme on Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) aiming to advance Initial English Language Teacher Education (IELTE), improve Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and promote Inclusive Educational practices and policies across the education system.
In Kazakhstan, we plan to focus on capacity building of English language teacher training course designers to support the continuing professional development of English language teachers in schools. This activity is supported by the National Centre of Professional Development ‘Orleu’ and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
We are recruiting 20 candidates who will take part in a ten-day face-to-face training course and develop five English language teacher training courses under the guidance of UK experts from the Norwich Institute for Language Education (NILE).
The training will be delivered at the beginning of December in Astana and all participation costs will be covered by the British Council.
During the training, participants will acquire the knowledge, tools and methodologies necessary to develop effective and impactful continuing professional development courses tailored to the needs of English language teachers and aligned with recognised standards and best practices in English language teaching.
The training will be conducted in an interactive format and participants will start applying their skills in the design of five CPD courses for English language teachers. Following the training, participants will be expected to finalise the courses by the end of March 2025 to ensure their smooth assessment and listing in the Ministry of Education/ORLEU register of courses.
The trained course designers will become the official pool of course designers for ORLEU and the British Council for at least five years (until 2030) and may be called up to design courses within this period (for a separate fee).
