What are businesses looking for in graduates?

On 12 November we asked businesses what skills they are looking for in graduates.

Watch recording here. We discussed with businesses how young people can best prepare for the world of work and whether businesses think universities are doing enough. We discussed:

  • Are young people graduating with the skills businesses need?
  • What are the skills businesses are looking for?
  • What can students themselves do to better prepare themselves for the world of work?
  • What more can universities do to help young people prepare for the world of work?
  • How can business and education providers work together to make sure young people do have these skills?
  • Some people say business should do more e.g. in providing paid for internships. What do you think?
  • What other support could businesses offer students or universities/colleges?
