We are looking for an experienced, flexible and self-motivated DELTA/CELTA/TESOL qualified EFL teacher trainer who has done his/her initial teacher training and then gained significant post-certificate teaching experience with a range of ages and abilities.

Role overview

The teacher trainer will deliver in-service programmes for primary and secondary school teachers of English and pre-service university students and ensure that full support is provided throughout the duration of the contract. The teacher trainer will be the key person for all training aspects of the project. The teacher trainer will ensure strong, trusting relationship with teachers, school administrators, education authorities and be supported by the British Council ELT team and finance unit based in Almaty and Astana as well as a full time local project coordinator based in Atyrau.

The teacher trainer will work with primary and secondary school teachers and therefore will need to be aware of the British Council’s Child Protection policy and adhere strictly to all relevant corporate practice and procedures. The post holder will be working for the period of 7 months providing local teachers with teaching methodology in order to improve the teaching of English in Atyrau and Kulsary.

Requirements:

  • accredited teaching certificate in CELTA, DELTA, TESOL or a recognised professional teaching equivalent
  • extensive teaching experience and 3 years+ experience in teacher training
  • excellent customer-facing and communication skills
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • team working and relationship-building skills
  • solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other tools.
