An online competition for teachers titled 'Best English Video Lesson' aims to create the best English video lessons linked to various British Council online resources and mapped to the school curriculum for all grades and thus, to support teachers in their remote teaching. It is held for English teachers of primary and secondary schools of Kazakhstan with specific focus on Mangystau and Atyrau regions.
More than 200 teachers applied and participated in two webinars conducted by Penny Mosavian, Director of Studies, Centre for Applied Linguistics, Warwick University. The teachers learnt about various principles, techniques and tools for using video in teaching and learning. All materials, as well as teachers questions and comments, are posted on Padlet.
The teachers started recording their own video lessons on vocabulary or grammar topics from the school curriculum and mapped to online resources of one of the British Council’s websites:
The panel of judges will identify ten finalists with best video entries in each of the three geographic categories:
- Category 1: Atyrau region
- Category 2: Mangystau region
- Category 3: all other regions of Kazakhstan
The 30 finalists will participate in an online training programme delivered by the UK consultant to help them improve their video lessons. After completing the training, finalists will record new videos and compete for prizes.
Deadline for submission of video lessons is 31 August 2020, 23.59h Nur-Sultan
