When will I get my IELTS results

You won’t have to wait long for your IELTS test results. In fact, if you take IELTS on computer, your results will arrive typically within two days.

You can check the results on the Test Taker Portal and download them in the PDF-format for further use.

Test Time
IELTS on Computer 1-2 days
IELTS for UKVI on Computer 1-2 days
IELTS for UKVI Life Skills up to 7 days

While most IELTS on computer tests results are available within 1-2 days, occasionally a test will need additional time to review to make sure your score is correct, and your ID details are correct.

We can send up to five additional copies of your TRF free of charge directly to institutions you are applying to (universities, immigration officers, etc.) within two years of taking the test. Please include the full postal addresses of the institutions on the Test Taker Portal, so that we can check if the institution has access to the IELTS Test Report Form Verification Service. This service allows them to view your results electronically. If they do not have access, we will send your TRF by post.

If you want us to send another copy of your TRF to a recognising organisation in addition to the five copies we provide, you will need to pay an administration fee of 5000 KZT per each copy per each organization.

Please make your payment to the below account as indicated:

Organisation: British Council (Kazakhstan)LLP
Bank: JSC Citibank Kazakhstan
IBAN: KZ3983201T0200445000
SWIFT: CITIKZKA
BIN: 150540016608
KNP: 859
KBE: 17

You will need to email us the following documents to info@kz.britishcouncil.org:

We will then send the TRF directly to the institution online.

If the institution you are applying to, do not have access to IELTS Test Report Form Verification Service, we will prepare a paper copy of the TRF. It can only be sent by courier directly to the institution. Courier service is paid by candidate.

Institutions can receive your score by contacting the IELTS online verification service. To do this they need your TRF number. This can be found in the lower right-hand corner of your TRF.

Please note that an additional Test Report Form takes around 7 working days to be processed.

You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each test section, which reflects your proficiency in English.

Your TRF shows a score for each of the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking), as well as an overall band score. You can score whole band scores (for example 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half band scores (e.g. 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) in each section of the test.

Find out more about how your score is calculated here.

We recommend that IELTS test results are considered valid for two years after a test has been taken. This is based on research into second-language loss. Organisations that accept IELTS can choose to accept results for a longer period, so you should check with them directly.

Organisations will usually not accept your results if they are more than two years old, unless you provide evidence that you have actively maintained or tried to improve your English since taking the test. The IELTS Partners cannot confirm the validity of test results that are more than two years old.

If you did not receive the score you expected, you can apply for your test to be re-marked. This is called an Enquiry on Results (EOR). You can choose which test sections you want to be re-marked and will need to request this at the test centre where you sat the test. You need to apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date.

If you want to impove your score in one section, you can retake only that test section without having to retake the full test. This is called One Skill Retake (OSR). You can only retake one skill per original test, and you must sit the One Skill Retake within 60 days of your original test date.

Please refer to our Public Offer for the most current information on fees for Enquiry on Results (EOR) and One Skill Retake (OSR).

IELTS on Computer and IELTS for UKVI on Computer: You can submit and pay for an Enquiry on Results online in the Test Taker Portal.

IELTS for UKVI Life Skills: Please contact us by email with your request. Make sure you attach your proof of payment.

There are no restrictions on re-taking IELTS. You can book a new test as soon as you feel you are ready to do so.

Please note that your score is unlikely to increase unless you make a significant effort to improve your English before re-taking the test. Visit the Preparation section to take a practice test and assess your level.
