The grant fund for the launch of projects under the WeAlmaty project was aimed at achieving tangible results for development at the local level through the implementation of civic initiatives in cooperation with local authorities and the private sector and in accordance with the priorities of the Almaty development program until 2020.
The objectives of the Fund were:
• involve Almaty citizens in the process of initiating and implementing social and economic projects, mobilizing resources for sustainable development of Almaty
• develop partnerships between the public, private and public sectors of the city of Almaty
• test innovative mechanisms for financing social projects to achieve their sustainability
The Fund has awarded grants for the launch of projects in the total amount of 50,000 euro over two years. Thus, 10 teams received 5,000 euro each and implemented their initiatives.
