Russia, 2015, 2 hours 5 minutes

Choreographer: Jean-Christophe Maillot

Assistant to Choreographer: Bernice Coppieters

Set Designer: Ernest Pignon-Ernest

The most vivid contemporary work currently performed at the Bolshoy was created by the choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot to music of the great Dmitriy Shostakovich based on the play by William Shakespeare.

This is the first new production by the artistic director of Monte-Carlo ballet created wholly outside of his home stage – and each character you see on stage was rooted in the personalities of artists of the Bolshoy Company.
