FOCUS: From Speculation to Reality

This workshop examined strategies architects and urban planners can use to transform research and speculative ideas into real projects. Exploring themes of regeneration and public space in the city it will develop architects’ skills in pitching ideas and concepts to commercial and public clients.

SPEAKER: SAM GULLAM

Sam Gullam is an urban environment designer. During the past twenty years he has been engaged in designing street furniture, directional signs, public areas and transport systems.

Sam believes that a coordinated approach to developing information systems and infrastructure in spaces between buildings allows not only the improvement of a city’s image and perception of the place, but is of fundamental importance for the city's operation.
